01 / The first weeks
Baby and Newborn Photoshoots
A newborn session works best between five and fourteen days old. In that window a baby still curls into the shape they held before birth, sleeps deeply between feeds, and can be settled into a wrap without waking. After about three weeks that changes: the sleep gets lighter, the limbs straighten, and the session becomes a different kind of shoot rather than a worse one.
How we keep a newborn safe
- WarmthThe studio is heated to around 26 degrees before you arrive, because a warm baby sleeps and a cold one does not
- HygieneEvery wrap, blanket and prop is washed between sessions, and hands are sanitised in front of you
- FeedingThe session pauses whenever your baby is hungry, as often as needed, with a private corner to feed in
- PosingNo pose is ever forced. If your baby does not settle into something, we photograph what they do settle into
- SupervisionA parent stays within arm's reach for the whole session. Composite poses are never attempted
Sessions run at the studio or at your home. The studio has the controlled light and the full set of wraps, baskets, layers and backdrops. A home session trades some of that for a baby who never has to leave their own room, which for many families in the first fortnight matters more. Either way we allow two to three hours and expect to use most of it.
After the newborn window, milestone sessions at three, six, nine and twelve months follow the same child through the year: holding their head up, sitting unaided, standing, and then the first birthday. Elder siblings are welcome in the frames and are usually photographed first, while they still have the patience for it.

Newborn sessions are booked around a due date rather than a fixed day, so tell us roughly when and we keep the week open. Birthday and maternity slots are held on the date itself.

Maternity and Pregnancy Photoshoots
Twenty-eight to thirty-four weeks is the window most maternity sessions are shot in. Early enough that standing, walking to a location and changing outfits are still comfortable, late enough that the bump reads clearly in a photograph. Past thirty-six weeks we will still shoot, but we plan a shorter session closer to home.
Sessions run three ways. In the studio, with controlled light and drapes, which is the option that does not depend on weather. Outdoors at the fields and river banks around Sitapur, best in the hour after sunrise or before sunset. Or at home, in your own light, which suits families who want the nursery and the older children in the frames.
How the session is paced
Two hours with seating breaks built in rather than squeezed in, water on hand, and no pose held longer than it is comfortable. Traditional saree and Indian maternity setups are shot as carefully as the contemporary ones, with drapes, jewellery and mehndi given proper frames of their own. Couple maternity sessions are the same shoot with the father in it, and both sets of grandparents are welcome for the last twenty minutes.
A female photographer is available on request for maternity sessions. Say so when you enquire and the team for your date is planned around it from the start. Bring two or three outfits, one fitted and one flowing; the studio provides drapes, shawls and a changing room, and we will tell you honestly which of your own clothes will photograph best.
A baby changes every fortnight.
An album does not.
03 / The ceremonies
Godh Bharai, Baby Shower and Naming Ceremony
The ceremonies around a birth are family events rather than portrait sessions, and they are covered that way: the room as it is, the people in it, and the ritual in order rather than staged again afterwards.
- Godh bharai and baby shower
- The lap-filling itself, the women of both families around it, the sweets, bangles and gifts, and the portraits everyone asks for at the end.
- Namkaran and annaprashan
- The naming, the priest and the havan, and the first rice. Small rooms, low light, and a baby who has no interest in the schedule.
- Mundan
- Covered start to finish, including the part nobody enjoys. Usually at a temple, often at dawn, and better photographed without flash.
Ceremony coverage and a portrait session are two different things and are booked separately. Coverage runs for the length of the function and documents it. A portrait session is thirty to sixty minutes of arranged frames of the baby and the family, and many families add one on the same day, before the guests arrive.
04 / The birthday
Birthday, First Birthday and Cake Smash
Two separate bookings
A birthday is two jobs, not one, and they are booked and priced apart. The pre-birthday shoot is a studio session in the fortnight before, with a set built for it. Party-day coverage is an event shoot on the day itself, in whatever hall or courtyard you have taken. Most families book one. Many book both, and the studio frames become the invitation and the backdrop the party is decorated around.
-
The pre-birthday shoot
Sixty to ninety minutes in the studio, on a theme set built for your child: balloons, numbers, colours, a favourite character or a plain backdrop if you would rather the child was the only thing in frame. Shot in the two weeks before, so prints and the invitation are ready in time.
-
Party-day coverage
The event as it happens. Decorations before anyone arrives, guests coming in, the cake, the candles, the grandparents, the chaos on the floor afterwards. Two to four hours depending on the party, lit for the hall rather than relying on it.
A cake smash is a pre-birthday shoot with the last twenty minutes given over to the cake, a wipe-clean floor and a change of clothes. Adult and milestone birthdays are shot too, and so are the fiftieth, sixtieth and the anniversaries that come with them.
05 / The whole family
Family and Multi-Generation Portraits
The photograph most families in this district actually want is the hard one: three generations, twenty or more people, everybody visible, nobody blinking. We have the studio space, the lighting and the practice for it, and it is the work we are asked for most often outside wedding season.
In the studio you get controlled light and a choice of backdrops, with the group arranged by height and sightline rather than by who arrived first. Large groups are lit across their whole width so the people at the ends are not darker than the people in the middle. At home or outdoors we work with your own courtyard, terrace or drawing room, which suits older relatives who would rather not travel.
Diwali, Holi and Raksha Bandhan bring families together who are otherwise scattered, and a reunion sitting takes twenty minutes out of a day everyone is already dressed for. Traditional Indian family portraits, arranged and formal, are shot alongside the looser frames rather than instead of them.
What to wear as a group
Agree on two or three colours and let everyone choose within them. It reads as considered rather than matching, and it stops one bright shirt taking the eye in every frame. Avoid narrow stripes and large logos. Send us a photograph of what the family is planning and we will say if anything will fight the backdrop.
Twenty-six people.
One frame. Everybody's eyes open.
06 / Children
Kids and Children's Photoshoots
Toddlers and school-age children are photographed on their own terms. A session is booked for an hour and rarely uses all of it, because a child who has stopped enjoying it stops photographing well and no amount of extra time fixes that. We start with whatever they are already interested in and work outward.
Studio sessions run with a small set and few props, so the child is the subject rather than the decoration around them. School and pre-school portraits are shot on site for the whole class, with a consistent backdrop and lighting across every child, and delivered as individual files per family rather than one shared folder.
07 / Couples
Couple and Anniversary Photoshoots
This section is for couples who are not planning a wedding shoot — married couples, anniversaries and milestone celebrations. If you are engaged and looking for a pre-wedding session, that is a different shoot and it lives on the pre-wedding photoshoots page instead.
An anniversary sitting is usually an hour, in the studio or somewhere that means something to the two of you. Traditional saree and sherwani portraits, the everyday clothes you actually wear, or both in one session. Couples marking twenty-five and fifty years often bring their children and grandchildren for the last half hour, which turns it into a family sitting as well.
Post-wedding sessions belong here too: the saree portraits many couples want a few weeks after the wedding, once the rush is over and nobody is running to a function.

What moves the price
- Where Studio sessions are the base. A home visit inside Sitapur adds a fixed call-out; other towns are quoted with travel.
- How long A newborn session is booked by the window it needs, not the clock. Party coverage is priced by the length of the function.
- How many photographs Every package has an edited count. More can be added from the same shoot afterwards.
- Group size Beyond about fifteen people a family sitting needs a second light and more time to arrange.
- Prints and album Digital delivery is included. Framed prints and printed albums are quoted on top.
Every figure is a starting point. The final price depends on the session, the location and the travel, and you receive it in writing before anything is held. Newborn dates are held loosely around a due date at no cost until the baby arrives.

09 / Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Asked before every booking
What is the best age for a newborn photoshoot?
Between five and fourteen days old. In that window a baby still curls naturally, sleeps deeply between feeds, and settles into a wrap without waking. After about three weeks the sleep gets lighter and the limbs straighten, so the session becomes a different shoot rather than a worse one. If you are past that window, book a milestone session instead and we will plan it around a baby who is awake.
When should a maternity photoshoot be done?
Between twenty-eight and thirty-four weeks. Early enough that standing, walking to a location and changing outfits are still comfortable, and late enough that the bump reads clearly in a photograph. We will still shoot past thirty-six weeks, with a shorter session planned closer to home.
Do you come to our home in Sitapur?
Yes. Newborn, maternity and family sessions are all shot at home if you would rather not travel, and we bring lighting, wraps and backdrops with us. A home visit inside Sitapur adds a fixed call-out charge. Other towns are quoted with travel as a separate visible line rather than hidden inside the package.
Is the studio heated and safe for a newborn?
Yes. The studio is heated to around twenty-six degrees before you arrive, because a warm baby sleeps and a cold one does not. Every wrap, blanket and prop is washed between sessions and hands are sanitised in front of you. A parent stays within arm's reach throughout, no pose is ever forced, and composite poses are never attempted.
Is a female photographer available for maternity sessions?
Yes, on request. Mention it when you enquire so the team for your date is planned around it from the start rather than arranged late. The same applies to any session where you would prefer it.
How long does a baby session take?
Allow two to three hours for a newborn and expect to use most of it. Most of that time is feeding, settling and waiting rather than photographing, and it is not time you are being charged extra for. Milestone and older baby sessions are shorter, usually around an hour.
Can siblings and grandparents be in the photographs?
Yes, and they are included rather than charged for. Elder siblings are usually photographed first, while they still have the patience for it, and grandparents near the start for the same reason. Larger family groups on the same day are better booked as a family sitting so there is time to arrange everyone properly.
How soon will we receive the photographs?
A small preview reaches you within a few days. The full edited set follows once every frame has been culled and colour graded by hand, delivered through an online gallery you can share with family. Prints and albums are ordered after you have chosen from that gallery.
